Introduction

Awareness of the Media and all related industries can help any individual make a conscious choice as a citizen. Urban city youth are being bombarded by images, most of which has had a negative influence on the minds of today’s youth. Youth often mimic the actions of their favorite movie, television, or recording artist, and the actions can lead to harmful results. Counter attacking the media’s efforts to thwart the minds of an entire generation of youth, would prove to be an unworthy method in instruction. We applaud the art forms of broadcasting, and all aspects of media and related fields specifically in entertainment. Some forms of media are positive, educational, informative, knowledge giving, and entertaining, then there are the negative media productions usually geared toward a specific demographic with a huge financial backing. Gaining perspective on the real reasons a business entity targets the youth by using the media as the #1 tool when marketing, promoting, or displaying their products, is a reachable goal. By examining some industries such as radio, recording, video, television, advertising, marketing, and some others, we will be able to analyze both positive and negative messages, and respond accordingly to what has been perceived, from a personal viewpoint. The media controls the world, because it may prove to shape culture, ideology, and even destiny to some extent. Searching for answers to the many questions of mortality has been overshadowed by information on the nightly news, a sports event, or a person’s favorite television show, or movie. How can you compare art to life, where do we draw the line?  There are many ways to determine the impact the media has on society and this book attempts to cover every aspect in-depth to help strengthen the minds of the youth.  To actually interpret what the images that the media puts out from a marketing standpoint will be a case of study, also how from an artist’s perspective, when dealing with the media may make or break you. Our world is geared toward merchandising a product and sometimes people have solicited themselves for corporate gain.

Questions and discussions at the end of each chapter will undoubtedly enable the student to rationalize his/her feelings toward the media. This book will guide each student through the six week media consciousness class, preparing them to become well intentioned media makers, writers, consumers, and other walks of life, but most of all they will be conscious of the choices they make on a daily basis.  The first phase of the media program is covered in this book, so welcome aboard and let’s become conscious of the entertainment world around us.

Types of Media

In the world today messages are presented to the public in a variety of genre, and the media makers must have the attention of the public market.  To grab the attention of the public market, lots of time, effort, money, and or even genius is spent making the finest media plot to shape culture, ideology, opinion, and the thoughts of the public market. Most of today’s products and services have a specific target that they market to regarding age, demographic, and ethnicity. Forming the many concepts and ideas that go into launching a media campaign might run in the millions, and the industry itself is a billion dollar industry. When you count in other related industries, media encompasses most of what we know about in life. The insightful advice that marketing consultants and media makers introduce to large corporations enables these organizations to appeal to a large audience. The ultimate media outlet is the internet, guaranteeing a wide open global market.
Both consumers, and businesses can benefit tremendously from internet usage, yet some applications and some internet surfers may indulge in unethical criminal activity. Unlawful attempts at identity theft, infringement on intellectual property rights, bank fraud, child abduction and pedophilia, and other crimes may be easily perpetrated through using the internet as a porthole. Media has developed right along with the technology which presents it and the future looks even brighter regarding the entire global agenda regarding international business and media. Through media the world has become smaller; people from all walks of life have learned one another’s culture from some sort of media transmission. Facebook is among many ways marketers use social networking as a marketing tool. A global market enables marketers to effectively utilize media components to turn over a profit.
Sound waves at light speed produce broadcasting for radio and television channels, enabling an audience to receive signals from a satellite feed. Also with technology three dimensional imaging has literally transformed the media industry allowing the unimaginable to be perceived.  Even though there are many forms of media, different perspectives arise when interpreting a media maker’s message. Rather formal or informal a message may shape some opinion, belief, and some ideological concern, which might incite a negative, or positive, physical, or verbal reaction.  After all the Bible is a book, which can be considered print media, and it is the most talked about, studied, purchased, distributed, renowned for its spiritual content, and forms many arguments and opinions from all sorts of scholars, critics, students, and ordinary people.  The bible is also a way in which to use media in a positive sense, rather than in a destructive way that might result in pattern forming behavior.

Questions and discussions 1
1.    Research the different types of media, and then list the media type from first to last according to which type more money is annually spent.
2.    Do you believe that actors, entertainers, sports figures, etc… should get paid more than doctors, firefighters, policemen, and teachers?
3.    What is your favorite media type? How do you think it has or will affect your life?
4.    Is the media more negative than positive?
5.    Discuss in class about what you feel is the most dominate type of media?

Techniques of the Masters
Similar to a magician a media maker must create an illusion, in order to appeal to an audience with a product, a service, and or an agenda. Even though most manipulative forms of media will be fictitious in nature, they are made so close to reality that they fool people in believing its life.  Most of us or not all of us have been raised off some form of media, rather its music, or television and we have been programmed to live out our lives as clones to these mediums. The masters of media, WORK LONG AND HARD AT DECEIVING THE WORLD, and have done so for centuries. Media is created to turn a profit, so the dignity in regards to ethical religious god-fearing behavior is compromised by sorcery, and careful plans to deceive the intended audience which very well can be you.

Television Business
Since the early twentieth century an invention plagued the world with a false tag called entertainment, and the invention was the television. Everything that we do or say has been predominately influenced by the television and everything you can do with it. Every other medium interacts with television rather it’s advertising, music performances, music videos, award shows for motion picture industry, recording industry, radio, marketing for most industries, world news as well as local news, children programming, adult programming, and others. At most television stations the goal is to make money, rather it’s for ethical or non-ethical purposes, financing is necessary.  The television business as in any other business depends on bringing in money, so the large conglomerates use all of the deceptive tools available to compete, or in some cases stay ahead of the competition. In order to achieve a profit the television station employs producers to do all of the dirty work, with the news being the main backbone.  Some stations are designed with a nonprofit agenda and may exemplify an ethical agenda, although top executives rake in an unbelievable salary, and who’s paying for that? You are…  Most messages that you hear throughout life come through the television set, and it is the ultimate marketing tool for religion, and in America the Christian religion dominates the television.  Television ministers rake in a huge income, and some manipulate the public using God’s word as a cover-up for their true intentions. The world is full of crooks, and most of them are disguised as executives, producers, and television directors, their goal in turn is to make a profit. The industry makes 10s of billions in dollars, and worldwide the numbers are uncountable, the financial power gives television an astounding edge over all other types of media. Personalities are formed from the impact television has on an individual, group, or cause, and can be used as a weapon against the masses aiding in numbing down human intelligence to that of a mental slave. The human race has been conditioned primarily to carry out the bidding of this type of media (television), and human’s behavior patterns have been studied so the media makers may manipulate us further down the road of destruction. How can we battle a monster that has his mark in a game in which he has invented? The answer is to promote more positivity through media awareness and consciousness on a grass roots level, and to inform others and discuss the plot of the wicked which are prevalent in the television industry.  There are many people who may disagree when referring to the television as the root to many of life’s problems, because it’s like a drug and those that oppose are definitely in denial, we have been conditioned to believe in an illusion, an idol, another god! Also remember that television can be used to a positive not life threatening message that might save the world, and only God knows the time and place.

Movie Industry
Movies make money, even in a recession movies make money! The motion picture industry makes tens of billions in dollars a year, bringing excitement, emotional experiences, and much influence. Most of the images on the big screen are of violence, sexual content, some dark humor, and degradation, after all without these elements the movie probably wouldn’t sell. Actors are everyday people that put on an act, playing the role in accordance to the script; they are to make the act seem real as possible. Some actors say that they get so engulfed in playing a role, that they feel possessed by an entity taking control of them. Can the viewer of a movie get so into it that they get possessed, or go and act out what they have seen on the movie screen? Crimes have been committed exactly like the movie had portrayed, and some movies put bad guys or vigilantes on a high pedestal. The media makers set the tone of criminal activity, such as drugs, gangs, and guns, because as soon as a movie comes out that portrays negative stereotypes of minority, or poor struggling citizens perpetrating crimes, or behaving  a certain way, it immediately is translated in a physical sense in real life situations. We all have experienced being inside a movie theatre, the sweet buttery popcorn, the surround sound that allows you to hear every single sound, and the comfortable seats, these experiences prepares you to become brainwashed with whatever images the producer presents. As soon as you receive the message, the message enters your subconscious mind, and is there to stay, and can form a belief, definitely an opinion, and an ideology. The movie producers can careless about whose subconscious mind they affect negatively, they are in the business to make money, and to fulfill your unconscious need for entertainment; you’ve been conditioned from birth to accept every plot to deceive by the movie makers, as natural.  Some people even refer to their real lives as a movie, and this sickness is passed on from generation to generation without any regard for the creator who has no need for the makings of mankind. God deserves the glory, and why isn’t his influence greater then Hollywood’s? The movie industry has taken the place of God in some instances; we need to re-evaluate the motives of the movie makers, so we may live a clean life with a clear conscious, embedded with positive thoughts of peace. Why are we being bombarded with fairytales, falsehoods, fables, and stories? Life is much more important than any fairytale, our youth must understand the truth, and evolve closely with their spiritual existence.
